Introduction to Electronic Application Submission Interface (EASi)

The California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan introduced the Electronic Application Submission Interface (EASi) as a simple, cost effective way for producers certified by CAARP to complete and submit automobile application data electronically via the Internet. The resulting electronic version of the completed application can be printed, signed and mailed to CAARP together with the premium deposit payment and any other supporting documents required by CAARP.

EASi is available for CAARP private passenger and commercial applications, as well as the CA Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program (LCA).

EASi gives the producer a choice of selecting an immediate effective date or a future effective date.

Only certified producers can submit application information via EASi. CAARP will issue a username and password to either an individual producer or agency. When the application is completed and printed, the agency or individual producer information, including Tax ID or Social Security Number will be pre-filled into the applicable producer of record fields on the application.

How Does EASi Work? It's EASi!

The EASi online application can be found at www.aipso.com/EASi. At this website you will find information on the basic system requirements as well as step-by-step instructions for submitting application data.

After you log in using your unique EASi username and password, you will come to a screen asking which application you want to use, CA Private Passenger, CA Low Cost or CA Commercial. Choose the application from the drop down menu.

California Private Passenger Non-Fleet Vehicles and Private Passenger Named Non-Owner risks can be rated online when using EASi.

EASi Rating Interface

The EASi system will ask you to identify if you are writing a named non-owner or private passenger non-fleet vehicle. EASi will ask you for the same information as the application you fill out by hand. Enter the sex, date of birth, marital status, usage of vehicle, number of points the applicant has based on their driving record and whether or not a Financial Responsibility Filing is required (SR22).

You will then be asked to enter the rating band of the applicant. In EASi you only need to fill in the applicant's zip code and it will give you the applicable rating band. You will be asked to enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle being insured and indicate what coverages the applicant is requesting.

At each step of the way, you will be able to add, edit or delete information about the applicant, the vehicles, and any operators.

Once you are satisfied that all the information the applicant has provided is correct, you will be given the opportunity to have EASi rate the policy. EASi will then ask the producer if they wish to "Accept rating estimate and continue to application." If the producer hits "CONTINUE" a PDF application form will appear which will have all pre-filled fields completed.

The EASi application will not allow you to print the application until it is completed. If there is missing information, you will be notified and given a link to go back to the application and complete the missing information. If all information is inputted, the producer then hits "SAVE & VALIDATE" for final submission.

Once the EASi application has been submitted it still needs to be printed out and signed by both the applicant and the producer. The completed application must have original signatures, including both the date and time. The application must then be mailed within two working days (USPS postmark only) of the completion of the application in order for the effective date to be honored.

The benefits of EASi are:

  • It's easier for producers to enter application information.
  • With EASi, producers will no longer need to maintain a supply of paper applications.
  • The most recent application will always be available on EASi so there will be no violations for obsolete applications.
  • It is less likely for the producer to make omission errors because EASi will not allow the application to be submitted until it is fully completed.
  • An application can be saved in EASi if the producer needs to save it and return to it at a later date.

Future effective dates can be requested up to 45 days in advance in EASi

EASi Submissions with Electronic Payments

Producers, as of JULY 8, 2010, can register to use Electronic Payments IF THEY have used EASi to submit the application. You can register for electronic payments called (Producer Sweep) on the EASi website (left hand side of screen). You must register for each mechanism (CAARP and Low Cost Auto). Once you are registered the deposit premium will be swept from your producer trust account and you can then FAX the application to the Plan Office. NO MORE NEED TO MAIL IT!

The other form of Electronic Payments is E-Check, which allows the producer to enter the applicants checking account information into EASi and it will sweep the applicants checking account for the funds. This form of E-Payment will be available by September 2010. You would then again FAX the application to the Plan Office.
